Kevin F. Harney, LPC provides individual counseling for older children, teens and adults. He also has a great deal of experience working with couples, whether unmarried, engaged, married, divorcing/divorced, or remarried with blended families.

Kevin also provides family systems counseling when issues go beyond parent/child or parent/parent and require a group focus. In addition to counseling services, Kevin can provide consulting and/or training that custom fits a workshop or small group session to workplace or school issues.

He has also provided Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) to local businesses and school districts as needed. As a licensed professional counselor he has provided individual supervision for professional counselor candidates in Pennsylvania.

In addition to serving Franklin, Adams, Cumberland and Fulton Counties, clients of Kevin F. Harney, LPC come from as far as Harrisburg, Huntingdon, and Hanover, Pennsylvania; as well as Hagerstown, Maryland, and Martinsburg, West Virginia; all within a one hour drive of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

Kevin participates in several Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), such as Quest Behavioral Health, Mazzitti and Sullivan, and Ceridian/Lifeworks.

Because of his personally scaled practice, Kevin can be flexible in scheduling clients, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and on Saturday mornings till noon.


Kevin F Harney Bio

Prior to his counseling career, Kevin taught English in the public schools. He was drawn into the counseling field by students who needed more than academic instruction. He has decades of experience working with teenagers and their families.

Since 1996 Kevin has been counseling individuals, couples and families He received his master’s degree in community counseling from Shippensburg University and was licensed in Pennsylvania in 2002. He continues his development through workshops, public speaking, professional reading, and writing articles.

Kevin combines teaching and counseling, having taught as an adjunct instructor at Shippensburg University’s Graduate School of Counseling. He uses metaphor and analogy to help clients reach awareness and problem solve.

He offers counseling supervision and specific instruction on a variety of mental health issues, including communication, anger management, and life purpose. He creatively combines cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic approaches within a spiritual context.

Kevin is a committed Christian who has serves his church in several capacities. He is married and father of three grown daughters.

From Lincoln Way West enter the alley behind Central Presbyterian Church.
From Lincoln Way East enter the parking lot behind Lyons Clothing Store.


Metered parking is available.
From South Main Street, park in front of Olympia Candy Kitchen and walk west to the end of the paved walkway. The office is the last glass door on right side.
